Our Process

At Giggles & Clay, every paint kit is thoughtfully prepared from start to finish. While we do keep a selection of pieces in inventory, all of our plaster creations are handcrafted and made to order, so a little time and care goes into every piece before it reaches you.

Handcrafted from Start to Finish

Our pieces are hand-poured using high-quality, non-toxic materials, including plaster and clay. Our formulation contains no hazardous GHS-labelled ingredients and is free from silica, quartz, and asbestos. The materials we use are high-purity, non-toxic, and certified by the Art & Creative Materials Institute (ACMI).

Once poured, each piece is left to fully dry and cure for approximately 2–3 days, depending on environmental conditions.

Once completely dry, every piece is individually inspected, sanded, and prepared by hand to create a smooth, paint-ready surface. Our high-quality casting materials and careful pouring process help minimize air bubbles and imperfections, resulting in beautifully smooth pieces that are ready for your creativity.

Paints Made for Little Artists

Our paints are non-toxic and washable, making creativity a little less stressful for grown-ups. We use tempera paint for children under 5 and acrylic paint for ages 6+.

While our paints are selected with little artists in mind, painting can still get wonderfully messy! We recommend protecting clothing, furniture and your painting surface before getting started. Washable paints may still stain certain fabrics or porous surfaces, so supervision is always recommended.

Packed Just for You

Once your pieces are ready, they're carefully assembled into your chosen kit and either individually packaged or arranged in the gift packaging of your choice.

Every order is carefully packed to help protect your handmade pieces on their way to you. Because plaster is naturally fragile, we take extra care with every kit so everything arrives ready for its next step: painting!

Paint, Create & Keep

Once your masterpiece is finished, allow the paint to dry completely. If you'd like to help preserve your creation, you can apply a clear craft sealer such as Mod Podge. It's widely available at craft and retail stores, including Michaels Canada and Dollarama. For children's projects, an adult should handle or supervise any sealing products and follow the manufacturer's directions.
